Production

Support until series production

After successful development, we also take on the complete handling of series production. We take care of the planning and procurement of raw materials as well as the production of the input solution. Thanks to extensive in-house production facilities at our production site in Germany and an extensive network of manufacturers and suppliers in Europe and Asia, we are able to combine the most efficient production processes for your input solution. The result is high-quality products at competitive prices.

After a rigorous quality inspection, the finished parts leave our premises, but our responsibility does not end there. Your personal project manager will continue to be available to answer any questions you may have and you will receive comprehensive product support for years to come.

Production

We take care of all the steps involved in the series production of your input solution.

Quality inspection

Not only do we test the prototypes intensively, but the series-produced parts also undergo strict quality controls.

Aftersales service

Even many years after series production, you will receive full product support from us.

Depending on the product and project size, we at Printec-DS use different production methods to ensure the most efficient production possible for our customers. Given the diversity of our range, not all products can be treated equally. This is why we have decided to manufacture our industrial keyboards at our headquarters in Steißlingen and to integrate the assembly and testing of our customer-specific solutions, while relying on reliable partners in Europe and Asia for other areas such as touch solutions or membrane keyboards.

Our entire production follows systematic organizational processes that enable us to remain efficient in every order situation and with a wide variety of quantities. To this end, we use lean production methods and follow the Kanban principle in our procurement and production organization. We document, continuously review and further improve these processes. In production management, we are guided by the following design principles of lean production systems:

  • Waste avoidance and resource efficiency
  • Continuous improvement process
  • Standardization (definition of repetitive processes, workflows and production steps)
  • Zero-defect principle (avoiding errors being passed on to subsequent work steps and thus improving process and product quality)
  • Flow principle (ensuring a smooth flow of materials and information)
  • Pull principle (customer orders are pulled through the production process, production according to Kanban)
  • Employee orientation and goal-oriented leadership
  • Visual management (transparency of goals, processes and performance)

Thanks to our systematized production, we are able to manufacture both large series and small quantities, right down to the order size of a single keyboard, quickly and efficiently. We are supported in this by the systematic storage of a small number of pre-products, which we can adapt to the individual specifications of our customers when orders are received. Of all the factors, our qualified production staff play the central role.

Many steps in the assembly of keyboards and customer-specific finishes can only be carried out by hand. Here, our trained employees are the decisive factor for the highest production quality. Other work steps, such as fitting the circuit board with switches, are carried out using semi-automatic machines. The assembly of the individual switches, on the other hand, is fully automated. This shows that each individual work step has been carefully thought through by us and coordinated as efficiently as possible with the required quantity and production effort.

Once the keyboards have been assembled, one of the last steps is to apply the keyboard layout. This is another important step in the customization of our industrial keyboards. The key symbols are applied using modern laser machines, which enable us to use various laser processes. The most common method is laser marking with various parameters that are adapted to the subsequent location of the keyboard. In addition, we can cut our stainless steel keycaps with our laser so that the symbols on the stainless steel key blocks can be backlit.

These diverse process options make us very flexible in production and guarantee our customers short delivery times and the ability to react spontaneously to changes. Our production is capable of meeting any requirement for industrial keyboards, whether it is a one-off or a large series.

In order to meet the requirements of our customers, we are constantly developing our technologies and production processes. For example, switch assembly has been further developed from manual single switch assembly to semi-automatic single switch systems and fully automatic switch presses.
